Happy New Year StarPlug Fam.

The new year is significant to many and it comes with feelings of excitement, motivation and happiness. If you’re reading this, it means that you are on a path to clarity, purpose and success. You most probably have set your goals before now but I have a question for you…

How do you plan to achieve your goals?

As much as setting goals for the year is important, you must have a set plan to achieve them. Quite a number of people are faced with the challenge of setting goals and not achieving them. This isn’t to say that you should beat yourself over unachieved goals from previous years but maybe, just maybe you aren’t doing it right. These are what you should know about setting goals;

- Set SMART goals: Let your goals be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Realistic and Time-Bound). I know this sounds cliche and probably overused but it is one sure way to achieve your goals. It isn’t enough to just have goals. Setting SMART goals should answer the questions; What do I want to achieve? Why do I want to achieve this? How will I accomplish this?. Having realistic goals means that your goals should be achievable with the resources at hand and within the set period of time.

- Break it down: Yes, break down your goals into daily plans. Make sure your daily plans lead you into achieving your big goals. Break them, only then will you gain clarity.

- Be Consistent: This cannot be overemphasised. Consistency is the fuel of success. Whatever you choose to do, if you want great results you have to be consistent with it. Long-term consistency trumps short-term intensity.

Avoid Procrastination: “If you have to eat two frogs, eat the ugliest one first’’- Brian Tracy. The book “Eat your frog” by Brian Tracy will help you with dealing with procrastination. I talked about breaking down your goals into daily plans, this means that if you have a set of tasks to do (daily), go ahead with the hardest, most important one first. Never start with the easiest. Discipline yourself enough to persist until the task is done. This drives your motivation and increases your level of productivity.

- Write: Write down your goals, put them in places you can see them and review them daily. Don’t only keep your goals just in your head or your phone. There’s something about writing down your goals and reviewing them that keeps you motivated and focused. Write your goals today!

Here’s to setting goals and achieving them 🥂. We are wishing you a productive 2022.Will you adopt these steps to achieve your goals? Tell us in the comments, we’d love to hear from you.
